Polycarbonate resin creates new perfume spray heads

Business News, November 21, Monaco - Men using "Boss Pure" use this woody fragrance, reminiscent of the surging water of nature as exciting. The bottle is derived from a modern interpretation of the city's water wall. The body of the bottle is like reflective water, combining the transparency of glass with the strength of metal. The cork nozzle is made of DuPont™Surlyn®PC2000 resin.
This DuPont polymer material has crystal transparency. Michel Decodts, project manager in DuPont's Packaging & Industrial Products division, notes: "In addition to its good chemical resistance to perfumes, Surlyn® can touch quality even over time, resulting in brand loyalty. Unlike other clear resins, the liquid that remains on the corkhead when sprayed will neither mark the corkscrew nor slide on the corkscrew material."
The solid stopper nozzle was molded by Auriplast(Qualipac Group) one-step injection molding. Eric Lafargue from Qualipac explains: "Our proposed solution for assembling the stopper is to clamp silver-plated ABS onto the Surlyn® parts. Since this method does not use adhesives, it prevents any traces from negatively affecting transparency." Qualipac has also succeeded in controlling very high deviations, despite the different mechanical properties of the two parts, and in achieving a cork colour that matches the metallic body of the bottle.
